Through my Global Learning Courses I learned about some of the challenges faced in the healthcare today, about diseases that impact countries globally and about certain aspects of human society and how they differ between cultures. As a future physician, I believe it is important to not only be aware about the diseases and how they can affect a patent, but also about how lifestyle, culture, and social issues have an impact on a person’s overall wellbeing and health. Learning about these concepts in my global learning courses have been imperative in helping me grow as a future doctor and global learner.

You Got This: The Truth About Post-Grad Life!

I attended this meeting during alumni week at FIU where I was able to listen to a panel of recent FIU graduates talk about their experiences after graduating. As a soon to be graduate myself, it was inspiring to listen to other fellow graduates about how they have succeeded in their fields after college. Everyone had a different story and experience in their own field, and it was really helpful to listen to firsthand accounts on their own unique journeys.

NYT Speaker

I was able to attend New York Times journalist, Caitlin Dickerson’s talk where she spoke about immigration history in America. It was very impactful to listen about her experience working as an immigration journalist and learning more about her coverage of the child separation policy. I believe it is incredibly important to stay up to date on what is happening in your country and the factors impacting our society.
